Remembering Cassie
A life held close in memory
Cassie Angel Sanders brought warmth and energy wherever she went. Born in Middletown, Ohio on August 4, 1974, Cassie found joy in teaching and in the company of friends and family. She was known for a vibrant, social spirit — a person who cared deeply for those around her and took pride in her work educating young people.
Cassie taught in the Cincinnati area and had previously served students in the Franklin City Schools. Her commitment to children and to the classroom was something she treasured and often spoke about. Outside of school she was an active member of her community, including longtime involvement with the Fraternal Order of Orioles in Franklin, where she developed friendships and connections that mattered to her.
Family was central to Cassie’s life. She is remembered as a devoted mother who adored her daughter, Morgan, and who treasured time spent together. Cassie was the daughter of Timothy and Mary Ann Sanders and was cherished by a wide circle of relatives and friends, including aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close companions who counted on her warmth and companionship.
Her friends and colleagues recall a generous, lively presence — someone who could light a room and who took great pride in the relationships she maintained. Cassie was preceded in death by her grandparents Ella and Kelly Combs and is survived by her mother Mary Ann Sanders; daughter Morgan Lindsey Sewell; Walter Pluckard; and numerous other family members and dear friends.
A visitation was held on December 27, 2016, at Monroe First Church of God in Monroe, Ohio, followed by funeral services on December 28, 2016. Cassie’s memory lives on in the lives she touched: in the students she taught, the friends she kept, and the family she loved. Though gone far too soon, the kindness, dedication, and bright spirit she shared with others remain part of her legacy.
