Remembering Carly

A life held close in memory

Carly Rae Baron brought warmth and energy to everyone who knew her. Born October 17, 1997, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Carly grew into a devoted daughter and adoring sister who cherished her family above all. A 2016 graduate of Eugene Ashley High School in Wilmington, she continued her studies at Cape Fear Community College and was a student at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Carly loved basketball, pursued modeling ambitions, and was known for a contagious laugh and a generous spirit.

Friends and family remember Carly for the light she carried into ordinary days — her excitement for life, her loyalty to those she loved, and the way she lifted the mood of any gathering. She was described by those close to her as compassionate and kind, someone who made a lasting impression on teammates, classmates, and friends.

Services were arranged with visitation at Covenant Moravian Church in Wilmington and interment at Oleander Memorial Gardens, where her family and community gathered to honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations toward a memorial bench to be placed at the Oleander Memorial Gardens Mausoleum as a lasting tribute to Carly’s life.

Carly’s family asked the community to remember her not for the tragedy that ended her life, but for the joy she brought to others: a loving daughter, an adoring sister, and a gentle friend whose presence will be missed by many. Her memory lives on in the stories shared by those she touched and in the small, everyday moments that reflected who she was.
