Remembering Caitlyn

A life held close in memory

Caitlyn Alexis Truax, born November 26, 2000 in Forsyth County, North Carolina, brought warmth and tenderness to those who knew her. Described by her family as loving and kind, Caitlyn was a daughter, sister, and niece whose presence mattered deeply to relatives and friends.

She is lovingly survived by her father, Bryan Truax (Becky); her mother, Heather Truax; brother Bryan Truax Jr.; sister Ashley Truax (Gordon Spencer); and by her niece Ember Spencer and nephew Brian Spencer. Caitlyn’s grandparents Bob and Barbara Truax and Tom and Terri Owens, along with several step-sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins, also cherish her memory.

Family and community gathered to honor Caitlyn’s life. The family received friends on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Faith Freewill Baptist Church, where a funeral service was held and she was laid to rest in the church cemetery. Those who wished to remember her were invited to consider memorial contributions to Options of Burke County.

Caitlyn is remembered for the human moments that made up her life — the ties of family, the comfortable gatherings, and the small kindnesses that mark a young life shared with others. While words cannot fully capture the loss felt by her loved ones, her family’s hope was that those who knew her would carry forward memories of her gentle spirit and the warmth she offered to those around her.
