Their life, in the words of those who remember
The story of Caitlin Heath
Caitlin Christina Heath was born on May 28, 1997, in Greensboro, North Carolina, and grew up surrounded by family who remember her warmth and presence. A graduate of James B. Dudley High School in 2015, Caitlin continued her education at Guilford Technical Community College, pursuing opportunities to grow and build toward a future she hoped for.
Those closest to her recall a young woman who mattered deeply to her family — the Legacy/Greensboro News & Record notice names her mother, Carolyn Heath, among those who survive her. Caitlin’s life was rooted in her local community and schools in Greensboro, where she was known by friends and classmates who later honored her memory.
On June 16, 2018, Caitlin’s life was cut short when she and a friend were found dead in a vehicle in Greensboro. The deaths were later treated as homicides. Her family and the community sought answers in the years that followed and asked anyone with information to come forward.
While public records and notices capture only some details, they confirm that Caitlin was a young woman of promise who valued education and family. This page honors her as more than the circumstances of her passing: a daughter, a graduate, and a person whose life mattered to those who knew her. May her memory be held with dignity by those who loved her and by the Greensboro community.
