Obituary
A formal remembrance
Bruce Felix Cucchiara, a devoted husband, father and well-known community leader from Covington, Louisiana, died on April 24, 2012. Born December 28, 1954 in New Orleans to Vivian Eimer Cucchiara and the late Mario P. Cucchiara, Bruce built a life around family, faith and service.
A proud graduate of St. Paul’s School (Class of 1972), Bruce stayed closely connected with his alma mater through alumni activities and service on the St. Paul’s Foundation Board. He completed his undergraduate studies at Southeastern Louisiana University and launched a career in banking and finance that led him to leadership roles in St. Tammany Parish. Among his professional accomplishments, Bruce served as the first president of Resource Bank and later as CFO of SECO, a real estate development company in Covington.
Beyond his work, Bruce was deeply committed to his community and to young people. For decades he volunteered as a baseball and basketball coach, sharing time and encouragement with Covington’s youth. A dedicated member of Trinity Church, Bruce also expressed his faith through service and mission work, including recent travel to Romania.
Bruce is remembered by his wife, Anne Soileau Cucchiara; his children Caitlin E. Cucchiara, Christopher Paul Cucchiara and Mary Ann Meiners Cucchiara; his stepson J. Asher Fabre; his sisters Peggy Knight and Candy Wayert (Jack); and his grandson Jackson B. Cucchiara. Relatives and friends were invited to celebrate his life at Trinity Church in Covington, with interment at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested donations to St. Paul’s School or a charity of one’s choice.
Kindness, steady leadership, and a love for family and community marked Bruce’s life. He will be remembered for the ways he invested in others — at church, on the playing field, and through his years of civic and professional service.
