Remembering Brendan
A life held close in memory
Brendan David Hawkins was born June 13, 2002, in Webster, Texas, and raised in the Galveston County communities of Bacliff and Dickinson. Known affectionately as “B” or “B.B.” by those close to him, Brendan brought an easy laugh and a bright smile to family gatherings and neighborhood moments. He grew up attending Bayshore Friends Church and later found spiritual home in Living Faith Outreach, where he reaffirmed his faith on June 20, 2021.
Brendan is remembered as a son and brother devoted to those he loved. He is survived by his parents, Tommy “T.R.” Hawkins and Tomasa “Tommie” Montez-Chalk (and Daniel “Danny” Chalk), grandparents, siblings, and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins who carry treasured memories of his warmth and presence. Family notices describe a young man whose joy and kindness were easily felt by anyone who met him.
Those who knew Brendan recall the lightness he brought into everyday life — a contagious smile, a quick laugh, and the comfort of being in his company. His family’s faith and community connections shaped much of his life, and Living Faith Outreach was an important place for him in his later years.
On May 7, 2022, Brendan passed from this life in Dickinson, Texas. In the weeks and months that followed, family and friends gathered to honor his memory and support one another. Funeral arrangements were handled by Carnes Funeral Home of Texas City, where friends and relatives shared memories and celebrated the warmth Brendan brought to so many lives.
Brendan’s family expresses gratitude for the support of their community and for the many small acts of kindness that carried them forward. Though his time was brief, those who loved him remember his smile and the way his presence made ordinary moments feel kinder. He is mourned, and he is held in memory by those who cherish him.
