Brandon Upson

Brandon Re'Shad Upson, age 20, of Jacksonville, Florida, is remembered for the warmth and energy he brought to family, friends and his community. A native of Jacksonville, Brandon grew up in Duval County schools and carried his love of sports from youth Pop Warner leagues through his time at First Coast High School. Those who knew him recall his friendly manner, his laughter and the enthusiasm he showed in everyday moments.

Brandon found pride in his work and served as a manager at Krystal, where friends say he contributed steady effort and a positive attitude in the year he was employed there. Above all, he cherished his role as a father to his daughter, Zakiah, a bond that remains central to how family members speak of him today. He was also a devoted son, grandson, brother and nephew, survived by his mother June Upson, father Albert L. Timmons, Jr., brothers Le'Quan Thornton and Jamere Thomas, and extended family including grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Family gatherings and community connections mattered deeply to Brandon’s circle. Visitors to his memorial remembered him for his smile, his readiness to be part of neighborhood life and the small, meaningful ways he brightened the days of those around him. Funeral services were held with family and friends gathering to celebrate his life and the relationships that meant the most to him.

Though his life was cut short, Brandon’s memory lives on through those who loved him and in the stories they share—of a young man who loved sports, cared for his daughter, and worked to support those close to him. He is tenderly remembered and missed by his family and community.
