Remembering Brandon

A life held close in memory

Brandon Lee “Bubba” Grubbs, 21, of Augusta, Georgia, passed away on December 28, 2016. Known to family and friends by the affectionate nickname Bubba, Brandon was remembered primarily for his devotion to his family and the close bonds he shared with his mother, father, sister, grandparents, and siblings. He grew up surrounded by relatives in the Augusta area and drew strength from those relationships throughout his life.

Family members who survived Brandon include his mother Cathy McGuyton (Greg King) Williams of Coco, Florida; his father Charles Bobby Grubbs III of Augusta; his grandmother Betty McGuyton of Dearing; his grandfather Buddy Davis of Clarks Hill, South Carolina; his sister Kristen McGuyton of Augusta; and several brothers and other close family members who carried his memory forward. Those who knew him recall a young man who mattered deeply to his family and community and who will be remembered for the love he shared with them.

A graveside service to honor Brandon’s life was held at Westview Cemetery in Thomson, Georgia, with times of visitation arranged prior to the service. The family invited those who wished to express sympathy to share memories and condolences through the funeral home hosting the notice and to consider memorial tributes in ways that support the family during their time of mourning.

Brandon’s passing left a profound sorrow among those who loved him. While words cannot fully capture the fullness of a life, family and friends remember Bubba for the everyday connections that made him a son, brother, and cherished presence. His memory endures in the stories, the quiet moments, and the bonds he helped strengthen among those closest to him.
