Remembering Blake
A life held close in memory
Blake Matthew-Wayne Walsh of Peru, Indiana, passed away on August 5, 2025, at the age of 23. Born July 11, 2002, in Peru, Blake carried with him a warmth and gentle presence that touched family and friends alike. He worked in construction, most recently with Nice & Dry Renovations, where his steady work ethic and good nature were appreciated by colleagues.
Family meant everything to Blake. He was a devoted father to his two young children, Noah and Autum, who brought him immense joy. Blake is remembered by his father, John Walsh; his brothers, Tristain and Levi Gibson; grandparents Patricia Gibson and Dockie Ray Gibson; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia (Hyde) Gibson, and his grandmother, Diane Sears. The mother of his children, Jasmine Dewitt, helped create the memorial arrangements and invited the community to share memories of Blake’s life.
Outside of work and family, Blake enjoyed simple moments spent with those he loved and was fondly remembered for his infectious smile and positive energy. He had a gentle way of making people feel seen and was often the friend who offered help without being asked. Those who knew him recall his kindness, his laugh, and the pride he took in providing for his children.
Services honoring Blake’s life were arranged by Riverview Funeral Home in Peru, with visitation and a funeral service held in mid-August. In lieu of flowers, the family requested contributions to help with funeral expenses and to support his children.
Blake’s life—though far too short—left an imprint on a circle of family and friends who will carry his memory forward. He is remembered as a loving father and a warm presence in the lives of those who knew him.
