Obituary

A formal remembrance

Austin Dale “Yae” Turner, 25, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015. Beloved by his family and treasured by friends, Austin was a devoted father to his son Ju'Elz and a cherished son to Gail Turner and Gene Schriver. He was also a brother to Dominic Turner and Eric Lawrence. Those who knew Austin recall a young man who held close the people most important to him and whose relationships — with family members, extended relatives, and a special friend, Jasmine Brasher — were central to his life.

Services to honor Austin’s life were arranged by Rodgers-Awkard & Lyons Funeral Home and included visitation at New Zion Baptist Church followed by a funeral and interment at Green Meadows Cemetery. Family and friends gathered to offer support, share memories, and celebrate his life.

Austin’s life mattered to the community around him — as reflected in the outpouring of sympathy from relatives, neighbors, and those who remembered him. In the weeks following his death, loved ones left messages of grief and remembrance, speaking to the place he held in family life and the sorrow at his passing.

Though his time was far too short, Austin’s memory endures in the hearts of his family and those who loved him. He is remembered with love and respect by his mother, father, son, brothers, extended family, and friends.
