Remembering Austin
A life held close in memory
Austin Moody, 17, of Sheridan, Arkansas, lived fully and energetically — a son, student, athlete and friend who brought a smile to those around him. Born January 12, 2000, to Terry and Robin Moody in Little Rock, Austin embraced sports and discipline from a young age. He was a student at Sheridan High School and a member of First Landmark Baptist Church in Sheridan.
Austin loved football and track and field, and he pursued martial arts with remarkable success. He earned state championships in Taekwondo and was a 2008 world sparring champion, accomplishments that reflected his dedication, competitive spirit, and steady focus. Those achievements were matched by a warmth and friendliness that made him well liked by classmates, teammates, and neighbors.
Survived by his parents Terry and Robin Moody, grandparents Jim and Laura Moody and Paula Yarber, and a circle of aunts, cousins, and friends, Austin was remembered at services held by Dial & Dudley Funeral Home with a celebration of life at First Landmark Baptist Church in Sheridan. Family and friends gathered to honor his energy, his love of sport, and the everyday kindness he showed to others.
Though his time was far too brief, Austin’s accomplishments in sport, his commitment to his faith community, and the love he inspired in family and friends endure. He is remembered not for the manner of his passing, but for the bright presence he brought to the places he lived, learned, and played.
