Remembering Austin
A life held close in memory
Austin Moody, 17, of Sheridan, passed away on January 19, 2017. Born January 12, 2000, to Terry and Robin Moody in Little Rock, Austin grew up in Grant County and was known for his warm smile and outgoing spirit. A student at Sheridan High School, he enjoyed athletic pursuits — playing football and participating in track and field — and was a dedicated martial artist, having competed successfully in taekwondo, including state championships and youth sparring honors.
A member of First Landmark Baptist Church in Sheridan, Austin was involved in his local community and family life. He loved being active, competing, and sharing good times with friends and relatives. Those who knew him remember a young man who approached life with energy and a friendly openness that made him easy to like and quick to make friends.
Austin is survived by his parents, Terry and Robin Moody, and other family members who cherished his presence. He was preceded in part by relatives remembered by the family. The outpouring of support from classmates, teammates, church members, and neighbors reflected how much Austin’s laughter and enthusiasm meant to those around him.
Though his life was far too short, Austin’s memory remains in the hearts of his family and community — for the joy he brought to everyday moments, his love of sport and competition, and the steady warmth he offered to friends and family. Friends and loved ones continue to honor his life by recalling the brightness he brought into their lives and the simple, everyday kindnesses that defined him.
