Remembering Ariel

A life held close in memory

Ariel Brooke Spillner (December 31, 1998 – November 4, 2025) brought light to those around her with an easy laugh, steady determination, and a generous heart. Born on New Year’s Eve in Madison, Wisconsin, Ariel grew up in the Windsor/DeForest area and was raised by her parents, James and Hope (Lange) Spillner. She was a proud DeForest High School alumna, where teammates and classmates remember her as an enthusiastic athlete who gave her all on the soccer and basketball fields.

Ariel pursued her passion for the sciences, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and continuing her studies in the field of pharmacy. At the time of her passing, she was in the final stages of her professional training as a pharmacy student at Concordia University Wisconsin. Her commitment to helping others through health care and her quiet focus on her goals were part of what made her so admired by friends, professors, and family.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Ariel loved being active and was known for her involvement in team sports during her school years. Friends remember her bright smile and infectious enthusiasm — qualities that made everyday moments feel warmer. She valued close relationships with family and friends and is remembered for caring gestures, easy conversation, and a lively spirit that drew others to her.

Ariel’s family celebrated her academic achievements and the future she had been building when Concordia University honored her with a posthumous doctoral degree at commencement, a recognition of the work she completed and the goals she pursued so earnestly. She was preceded in death by grandparents and is survived by her parents and extended family, who have spoken of their deep love for her and the void her loss has left.

Ariel’s life was one of promise, compassion, and quiet strength. She will be remembered for her warmth, the joy she shared with teammates and friends, and the care with which she approached her studies and relationships. Her family and community continue to hold her memory close, honoring the person she was and the future she had worked toward.
