Remembering April

A life held close in memory

April Dawn Moore, a devoted mother and longtime Carlsbad resident, passed away on September 19, 2025, at the age of 50. Born April 16, 1975 in Salinas, California, April grew up surrounded by family and carried that close-knit spirit through her life.

A graduate of Rim of the World High School, April built a steady career supporting dental professionals for nearly three decades before joining Scripps, where she continued to help others with dedication and kindness. Her friends remember a woman who loved music and travel — she was an enthusiastic fan of the 49ers and Beyoncé, and she cherished cruising adventures shared with close friends.

Fitness and friendship were central to April’s days. For more than 30 years she stayed active with Jazzercise, finding not just exercise but community and joy in movement. Those connections sustained her through life’s highs and lows and created lasting bonds that friends described as loyal and true.

Family meant everything to April. She is survived by her son Marcus and daughter Marisa, her father Perry Moore and stepfather Gary, her siblings Mindy and Aaron, her grandmother Lillian, and other relatives and dear friends who were like family. The obituary notes she was preceded in death by her mother, Vicki Stevenson. Loved ones have expressed gratitude for the support of Carlsbad police and fire personnel who assisted in the days after her passing.

A memorial service celebrating April’s life was held October 23, 2025, at Eternal Hills Mortuary & Crematory in Oceanside. In remembering April, family and friends recall her ready laugh, her love for music and movement, and the steady presence she offered to her children and community. Her life touched many, and she will be remembered for the warmth and commitment she offered to those closest to her.
