Remembering Antonio Gregory

A life held close in memory

Antonio Gregory Laws Jr., known to family and friends as Tony, was born on January 2, 1980, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a caring grandson, a son, and a devoted family member who found steady work and quieter joys later in life. Those who knew Tony remember him as a thoughtful and determined young man who had worked to put difficult years behind him and was building a future for himself and his growing family.

Tony was employed at a downtown Baltimore restaurant and took pride in supporting himself while planning for the next chapter of his life. In 2011 he and his partner were expecting their first child — a future he looked forward to with hope and anticipation. Family members described him as intelligent and good-hearted: after a rocky start he had been getting back on track and was committed to providing for those he loved.

A grandson of the late Bea Gaddy, a well-known Baltimore community advocate, Tony was part of a family deeply connected to local outreach and service. His family remembers him as “Tony,” a name spoken with warmth, and they recall the ordinary, meaningful moments he shared with relatives and friends — working, laughing, and planning for his baby.

Tony’s sudden passing on September 4, 2011, left loved ones mourning a life cut short. While his loss is felt deeply, the family and community remember him first for who he was in life: a son, a grandson, an expectant father, and a young man striving toward a better future. His memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the quiet ways he touched their lives.
