Obituary

A formal remembrance

Alicia Ann Lewis of Otway, North Carolina, was born April 1, 1957, and passed away at home on September 14, 2018. Alicia’s life was marked by a quiet, steadfast care for the animals she loved — her cats and dogs were constant companions and brought great meaning to her days.

Alicia valued family and close ties. She is remembered by her brother, Delmas Lee Guthrie, and his wife, Cathy of Mebane, who survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, McCravy and Rowena Guthrie, and by her husband, Paul D. Lewis. Those who knew Alicia recall a gentle presence and someone who took personal pleasure in caring for others, especially the animals who shared her home.

A memorial service was held on October 5, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Clint Nelson. Friends and family gathered to honor her memory and to share stories and remembrances of the warmth she offered in everyday life. The family invited visitors to bring flowers in memory of Alicia.

Though brief in public details, Alicia’s life can be felt in the small, true things she tended to: the animals she loved and the family connections she kept. Her memory endures in those who loved her and in the kindness she showed in the ordinary moments of life.
