Obituary

A formal remembrance

Alex DeShawn Malone was born February 26, 2004. He brought warmth and presence to family and friends, and those who knew him remember a young person with hopes and relationships that mattered deeply to the people around him. In October 2022, Alex’s family gathered to celebrate his life and to share memories of his laughter, the moments he spent with those close to him, and the small daily ways he left an impression on others.

Alex’s life was rooted in his Denver community. Though taken too soon, the memories shared at his celebration of life reflect a son, a friend, and a presence in the lives of relatives who honored him with stories, photos, and remembrances. Family members created a Life Tributes page so friends and neighbors could post condolences and messages, and a visitation and service were arranged through Harris Funeral Directors to offer space for those who loved him to say goodbye.

Those who remember Alex describe him in short, meaningful remembrances — the casual kindnesses, the gatherings with family, and the young promise his life held. The outpouring of flowers, messages, and attendance at memorial events in October 2022 showed how much he mattered to those who loved him. While details of his final day are part of the public record, his family asked that remembrances focus on who he was: a young person whose life touched others and who is mourned by those who loved him.

Alex’s memory lives on in the stories his family and friends continue to tell. In honoring his life, they preserve the small, human moments that made him who he was — the presence he brought to family gatherings, the friendships he formed, and the lasting place he holds in the hearts of those who knew him.
