Ahmad Fleming

Ahmad D. "MAN" Fleming Jr., born February 4, 1986, was a longtime Albany resident whose warmth and creativity touched those around him. Known to family and friends as "MAN," Ahmad carried a deep love of the arts and of his community. He found joy and expression on the basketball court as a standout high school player and later onstage through his involvement with the Capital Rep Theatre. Music and design were central to his life — he worked as a lyricist and T-shirt designer and was known among friends for his creative spirit.

Ahmad was deeply devoted to his family. He is survived by his son Kenyatta; his parents, Ahmad D. Fleming Sr. and Brigitte S. Pryor; sisters Keyonna Penick and Qwiana L. Hill; and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins who remember him for his generosity and loyalty. He was also survived by maternal grandmother Dolly Pryor and the many friends who counted on his steady, giving presence. Those who knew Ahmad recall a man generous to a fault and devoted to the people in his life.

Funeral services were held at Macedonia Baptist Church in Albany, with visitation followed by a homegoing service and burial at Graceland Cemetery. Family requested that condolences and remembrances be shared through Cannon Funeral Home. In place of long lists of accomplishments, Ahmad’s legacy lives in the small but vivid ways he expressed himself — through music, design, performance, and the friendships he nurtured.

Ahmad’s life was one marked by artistic impulse and family ties. He will be remembered fondly by those who loved him for his creativity, his loyalty, and the kindness he showed to others. May his memory be a blessing to his son and to all who loved him.
