Remembering Adam
A life held close in memory
Adam David Jeffrey Hernandez was born March 21, 1995, in Fort Worth, Texas, and brought a warm spirit to every community he called home. Raised in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Milwaukee, Adam developed a deep curiosity for life, history, and faith that guided his relationships and creative pursuits. He expressed himself through writing, poetry, and music, always hoping to leave something beautiful for his son and those he loved.
Family was central to Adam’s life. He was a devoted father to his son, Avelo, and a cherished son and brother whose kindness and steady presence mattered to many. In recent years he found a spiritual home at City Church Eastlake, where he continued to grow in faith and to share his thoughtful reflections with others. Friends and family remember him for conversations that revealed his love of religion, history, and the small wisdoms of everyday life.
Adam’s creativity and compassion were part of how he lived: a writer and poet who cared deeply about giving voice to experience and making meaning for those around him. He hoped to contribute beauty to the world through his art and his words, and those hopes live on in the memories of people who heard him read, write, or play music.
Though Adam’s life ended far too soon on August 24, 2021, the imprint of his tenderness, his faith, and his care for family remains. He is remembered with love by his mother, Katie Kanost Hernandez, his many siblings, and by his son, Avelo. Those who knew him recall a gentle, reflective man who sought connection and who left behind work, words, and relationships that continue to speak for him.
