Timothy Robert Brown

Timothy Robert Brown, known to many as Tim or Tim Bob, passed away on November 14, 2021, at the age of 41. Born April 6, 1980 (Easter Sunday), Tim carried a generous spirit and an infectious laugh that endeared him to family and friends throughout Bakersfield.

A proud veteran, Tim served as an Army Ranger and with the 10th Mountain Division, answering his country’s call and completing tours overseas. His service remained a defining part of his life and shaped a deep loyalty to his fellow servicemembers. At home he cherished simple pleasures: the rumble of his Harley, tinkering with his '72 Chevelle, cheering loudly for the 49ers and Green Bay, playing guitar, and listening to Merle Haggard, Elvis, Johnny Cash, and Bon Jovi.

Tim pursued education at North High and Bakersfield College, earning an AS degree. He was a man who loved sports, especially football, and who found joy in making others laugh. Family meant everything to him — he was a devoted father to his two sons, Gunnar and Cannon, and is also survived by his mother Shelly Brown Sterni, father Robert Lloyd Brown and wife Jody Brown, sister Michelle Brown Davis and brother-in-law Jad Davis, and many extended relatives and friends who remember his kindness and lively spirit.

Those who knew Tim recall his compassion for seniors, children, and animals, and his readiness to lift the mood of a room. He enjoyed adventure — from parachuting to studying Brazilian judo — and delighted in the camaraderie of his Army buddies. Tim’s family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to veterans’ organizations such as Tunnels to Towers or the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).

Tim will be laid to rest at Bakersfield National Cemetery. He is remembered for his laughter, his love for his sons, his devotion to fellow veterans, and the many ways he brought warmth to those around him.
