Remembering Tad
A life held close in memory
Tad Douglas Howard, age 27, was born March 2, 1980, in Portland and raised in Maine. Those who knew him remember a young man who found joy in simple, active pleasures — shooting hoops, hiking the woods, and a lively game of Ping-Pong. He graduated from Bangor Christian High School in 1998 and cherished time spent with family, especially his identical twin brother, Toby.
Tad belonged to a community guided by faith; his belief was an important part of who he was. He is survived by his parents, Dale and Lucy Howard of Ellsworth; his twin brother Toby; sister Tracie Samiya of Bangor; grandparents and extended family across Hancock County; and close friends who were like family. Friends and relatives recall Tad as someone who valued those relationships and the everyday moments they shared.
A service of remembrance was held July 17, 2007, at Faith Community Fellowship in Trenton. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to help with expenses. Those touched by Tad’s life are left with memories of his warmth, his quiet faith, and the companionship he gave to those closest to him.
