Stacey Jane Plummer

Stacey Jane Plummer, a compassionate family law attorney and beloved member of the Tierra Verde community, died at her home on September 24, 2006, at the age of 43. Born August 14, 1963, in Hartford, Connecticut, Stacey grew up in Auburn before making Florida her home. She attended Edward Little High School, studied at the University of Maine, and completed her degree at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg. She went on to graduate from Stetson University College of Law and established a family law practice in St. Petersburg, where she was known for her dedication to clients and her steady, professional presence in the courthouse.

Outside the courtroom, Stacey was a person of many passions. She performed with the local rock band Legal Limit, sharing her love of music with friends and neighbors. An avid and accomplished skier, she also delighted in sports — cheering for high school, college, and professional teams across football, basketball, and baseball. Her faith community was important to her, and she was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Above all, Stacey treasured her family. She was the mother of three children — Julia, Jane and Jacob — whose lives reflected her love and care. She is also survived by her parents, William and Barbara Plummer, her sister Julie Plummer, and brother Jeffrey Plummer, along with nieces and nephews who remember her warmly.

Those who knew Stacey recall a person who combined professional skill with a vibrant personal life: a litigator who could step off the bench and onto a stage, a sports fan who cheered just as loudly for others as she fought for them in court. Her sudden passing left a deep void in the lives of family, friends, colleagues, and the many clients she served. Her family’s privacy and grief in the years since speak to the love they carried forward. Stacey’s memory endures in the music she made, the advocacy she offered, and the children she raised.
