Remembering Sheridan

A life held close in memory

Sheridan Grace Gorman, 18, of Yorktown Heights, New York, brought a rare warmth and gentle generosity to everyone who knew her. A freshman at Loyola University Chicago’s Quinlan School of Business, Sheridan arrived on campus with curiosity, a deep faith, and an easy way of making others feel seen and cared for. Her instructors remember a student full of engagement and grace; friends in campus ministry recalled a young woman who lived her values quietly and consistently.

Sheridan was the beloved daughter of Jessica (Simonds) and Thomas Gorman and the cherished sister of Madelon Gorman. She was surrounded by a wide circle of family — grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins — and lifelong friends who treasured her humor, compassion, and the steady kindness she offered without fanfare. Those closest to her say she had a gift for lifting ordinary moments into bright ones simply by being present.

A devoted member of Cru on campus, Sheridan expressed her care through listening, showing up for others, and offering comfort where it was needed. She found joy in community and faith, and she brought people together with warmth and thoughtfulness. Her family and friends remember her as funny, loving, and deeply loyal — someone whose life made everyday spaces feel more generous.

Family and community gatherings honored Sheridan’s life in the days after her passing. A private service was held for close family, and a public vigil and celebration of life allowed neighbors, classmates, and friends to reflect on the ways she had touched their lives. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made in her name to support campus ministry programs she loved and the communities that sustained her.

Sheridan’s life was brief but meaningful. She is remembered not for the way she died but for who she was: a daughter and sister, a friend, a student, and a bright, compassionate presence in the lives of many. Her family asks that her memory be kept through acts of care and by holding fast to the goodness she embodied.
