Shawn Chudej

Shawn Christopher Chudej (September 29, 1981 – May 8, 2016) was a devoted husband, proud father, and veteran who lived with quiet loyalty to family and community. Born in West, Texas, Shawn graduated from West High School in 2000 and answered a higher call by serving in the United States Marine Corps from 2000 to 2005. His time in uniform took him to postings including Fort Buford, South Carolina, and on deployments to parts of Africa, where he served with commitment and honor.

After military service, Shawn built a life rooted in home and family. He married Heather Nicole Coleman on April 30, 2010, and together they raised three children—Jacob, Skyloh, and Nicole—who were the center of his life. Shawn worked in industrial maintenance with AAFES in Waco for several years, where his steady work ethic and practical skills were appreciated by colleagues.

Shawn was a familiar and active member of his local community. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, belonged to West V.F.W. Post No. 4819, and participated in the KJT Society No. 31. His friends and family remember him for enjoying simple pleasures: a day of fishing, a game of cards, shooting pool, or the friendly competition of the Marble game. Those quiet moments—hours spent with relatives and neighbors—spoke most to who he was.

He is remembered by his wife, Heather; his son Jacob; daughters Skyloh and Nicole; his sister Michelle Holt; and an extended circle of family and friends who treasured his presence.
