Remembering Shaquaunn

A life held close in memory

Shaquaunn “Nuke” Lamar Shuford, 29, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away on September 2, 2023. He was known to family and friends by the nickname “Nuke,” and he is remembered for the connections he kept with those closest to him.

Family and community came together to honor Shaquaunn’s life at Graham Chapel AME Zion Church in East Arcadia. A visitation and moments of reflection were held at Majestic Funeral Home and Cremations, followed by a Service of Remembrance and interment at Graham Chapel cemetery. Those arrangements reflected the love and respect his family and friends wished to show as they gathered to share memories and support one another.

While public details focus on the end of his life, the services and tributes made clear that Shaquaunn mattered deeply to his loved ones. Attendees recalled his presence in family circles and the ways he figured into everyday life — small, ordinary ties that make a person dear: visits to relatives, time spent with friends, and the enduring bonds of neighborhood and church community.

In place of a long list of accomplishments, those who marked his passing offered the truest tribute: remembrance, fellowship, and the comfort of shared stories. The signs of care from his family, the church gathering, and the memorial arrangements stand as a measure of the esteem in which he was held.

He will be remembered by family and friends who mourn his loss and celebrate the moments he spent among them. For those who wish to honor his memory, the family received guests at his residence and through the funeral home’s tribute options.

May his memory be a blessing to those who loved him.

Shaquaunn was gone far too soon. May the love, memories, and moments connected to this life continue to be treasured, and may those mourning find comfort in remembering what mattered most.
