Remembering Ryan

A life held close in memory

Ryan Christopher Clark, known affectionately as "Stack," brought warmth, music, and service to every community he joined. Born May 29, 1984, in Landstuhl, West Germany, and raised in Martinez, Georgia, Ryan was a graduate of Lakeside High School where he first shared his love of marching band and community service. At Virginia Tech he pursued an exceptional course of study, completing a triple major in psychology, biology, and English and maintaining a 4.0 GPA. He balanced demanding academics with campus leadership — serving as a resident advisor in West Ambler Johnston Hall, advising the Imaginarium programming resource center, working at West End Market, and playing baritone with the Marching Virginians.

Friends remembered Ryan for his easy good humor, his care for others, and the energy he brought to the baritone section. Teammates spoke of choreographing dances with him to the drum line during football games; his presence in rehearsals and performances reflected a love of music and of shared moments. Beyond campus, Ryan had a long record of service dating back to his time at Lakeside High and in community programs in Augusta: he was active with the Boy Scouts, Communities in Schools Teen Health Corps, Golden Harvest Food Bank, and served as musical director at Camp Big Heart.

A beloved son, brother, and friend, Ryan cherished family and fostered friendships that endured. Survivors include his parents, Letitie and Stanley Clark; his twin brother Bryan Christopher Clark; and his sister, Nadia Danielle Clark, along with extended relatives and many friends whose lives he touched. Funeral services were held in Augusta, Georgia, where family and community honored his life.

Ryan’s life combined intellect, kindness, creativity, and service. He is remembered not only for his accomplishments but for the warmth he offered to others, the music he made with friends, and the steady, caring presence he gave to those around him. His memory endures in the hearts of family, bandmates, residents he advised, and all who knew him.
