Remembering Rosetia

A life held close in memory

Rosetia “Tia” Smith, age 23, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on July 23, 2009. A loving mother, she was devoted to her three young children — Kristopher, David, and Braylin — who survive her and remain at the center of her memory. Rosetia was the daughter of Michelle Simmons and Reginal Smith, and her family included grandparents, siblings, and many relatives who cherished her presence in their lives.

Family and friends gathered to celebrate her life with funeral services at Olivet Monumental Baptist Church on August 1, 2009, with interment at Zion Memorial Gardens. Those services reflected the deep ties Rosetia had to her community and the importance of faith and family to those who knew her. She is remembered by her parents, siblings (including Jermichael Collins, Reginal Smith, Jr., SheMarcus Robinson, Robin Hale, and Samishea Hale), her special companion Kameron Marshall, grandparents Edward and Minister Bertha Hale, and a wide circle of relatives and friends.

While words cannot replace a life, those who loved Rosetia recall a young woman whose family mattered above all else. Her children and the memories shared by her family keep her spirit present in the hearts of those who mourn her loss. Professional arrangements were entrusted to Image Funeral Services, and many offered condolences and remembrances in the weeks following her passing.

Rosetia’s life, though brief, was rooted in the everyday, loving roles she filled as a daughter, sister, companion, and mother. She is remembered for the place she held in her family and the lives she touched.
