Richard Preston III, 23, of Kansas City, Missouri, died July 20, 2013. Those who knew him recall a young man whose life mattered to family and friends — someone who belonged to a close-knit circle and whose loss left a deep ache in the community. In the days following his death, loved ones gathered to honor his memory and to celebrate the relationships he built in his short life.
Family and friends observed visitation and a memorial service at Greater Work International on Friday, July 26, 2013, followed by burial at XII Gates Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. The service allowed people who loved Richard to share memories, comfort one another, and hold him in their thoughts.
Though his time was brief, Richard’s life was marked by the ordinary, meaningful connections that shape us — the companionship of friends, the support of family, and the ties to his Kansas City community. Those who attended his service sought to honor those bonds and to carry forward the warmth he brought into their lives.
