Remembering Reginald
A life held close in memory
Reginald D. Privette, Jr., born May 25, 1984, in Washington, D.C., was a man who built his life through steady work, strong family bonds, and faith. Known to those who loved him as Reginald, he made his home in Topeka while working as a machine operator at Reser’s Fine Foods. His membership in Faith Harvest Church of God in Christ was an important part of his life, reflecting the faith that helped shape his character and relationships.
Reginald was the son of Reginald D. Privette, Sr., and the late Vanessa Graves. Family was central to him — he is survived by his father; a brother, Reginald Gooden; four sisters, Apollenia Abby Graves, Vanessa S. Graves, Willi L. Smith, and Kandis Gooden; seven nieces and nephews; and a wide circle of other relatives and friends who cherished him. Those who knew him remember a reliable presence who worked hard and cared for his loved ones.
A celebration of Reginald’s life was held on May 4, 2024, at the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home in Yanceyville, North Carolina, where family and friends gathered to honor his memory and share stories of his life. In place of flowers, many expressed support through condolences and memories shared with the family, underscoring how much he meant to those around him.
Though his life was cut far too short, Reginald’s life remains defined by the everyday commitments he kept — to family, faith, and work. He is remembered for the steady contributions he made to those who depended on him and for the quiet ways he showed up for people. His family’s memories and the community’s remembrances stand as a testament to a life that mattered deeply to those who knew him.
