Remembering Rebecca

A life held close in memory

Rebecca “Becky” (Rosenzweig) Ballenger, age 70, peacefully went to be with her Lord on December 11, 2018, at The Woodlands in Clinton, Mississippi. Known to family and friends as Becky, she was cherished as a devoted wife to Thomas “Bailey” Ballenger and a loving mother to her children. Becky’s life centered on close family bonds and quiet, steady devotion to those she loved.

Becky is survived by her husband, Thomas Ballenger; her daughter Amanda McElroy (Art) of Clinton; and her son Stephen Ballenger (Jessica Howard). Those who knew her remember a woman whose presence was a comforting and constant part of everyday life in her community. As she recovered from a stroke in the months before her passing, Becky remained surrounded by family and the care of staff at The Woodlands rehabilitation community.

Her family’s love for her and the years she spent alongside Thomas—more than four decades of marriage—reflect a partnership that shaped much of her life. Services arranged by Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home honored her faith and relationships, bringing together family and friends to celebrate her memory.

Rebecca’s passing was met with deep sorrow by her family and the Clinton community. In remembering Becky, those who loved her hold on to the ordinary, meaningful ways she showed care: being present for family gatherings, offering steady companionship, and living with quiet faith. Her life is honored for the relationships she nurtured and the comfort she offered to those nearest her.

May Rebecca “Becky” Ballenger be remembered for the warmth she gave to family and the gentle, faithful life she led.
