Montasia Arrington

Montasia Renee Arrington (August 16, 2001 – April 19, 2022) brought joy and light to those who knew her. Born in Roanoke Rapids and raised in Halifax County, Montasia graduated with the Class of 2019 from Northwest Collegiate and Technical Academy, where she shared time with friends on the cheer squad and made memories that family recall with a smile.

Montasia was a devoted mother whose son Jayceon was central to her life. Family remember her as a young woman whose laughter and playful spirit brightened gatherings and whose love for her family was clear in everything she did. She treasured time with her grandmother and close relatives, and she kept strong bonds with sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who remain grateful for her presence in their lives.

She is lovingly survived by her son, Jayceon Tillery; her parents, Teresa Arrington and Matthew Garner; sisters Tanika and Tekeyah Arrington and Jai Garner; brothers Daisean and Zakai Garner; and an extended circle of grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who carry her memory forward. Those who knew Montasia recall a young woman who enjoyed being with family, who could light a room with her smile, and who left an impression of warmth on everyone she met.

Funeral arrangements were handled by H.D. Pope Funeral Home. Family and friends gathered to honor Montasia’s life and to celebrate the moments of kindness, laughter, and love she shared. Though her life was far too short, Montasia’s memory endures in the hearts of those who loved her, especially her son and close family. May her loving spirit be remembered and may those who grieve find comfort in their memories of her bright presence.
