Remembering Michael

A life held close in memory

Michael Paul Grace Jr., born June 11, 1961, is remembered for the steady dedication he brought to his work and the love he held for his family. A graduate of Southwest Texas State University, Michael spent much of his life between Texas and Louisiana, building a career in outdoor advertising and operating Ace Outdoor Advertising. He was known by those close to him as a hard worker with an entrepreneurial spirit and a practical, reliable nature.

Family was central to Michael’s life. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward, and is survived by his children — Mike, Kassidy, and Kristina — and grandchildren Oliver and Finley. His mother, Mae, his sister Sue Downey, longtime companion Dana Travis, and a number of nephews and extended family also survive him. Michael’s family meant everything to him; he treasured time with his children and grandchildren and took pride in providing for them.

Born in Missouri, Michael made his home in Chandler, Texas, while maintaining strong ties to the Shreveport–Bossier City area. Colleagues and friends recall his years in the billboard business, where his experience and work ethic left a clear mark. Outside of work, those who knew Michael remember his practical kindness and steady presence — qualities that made him a dependable friend and family member.

A visitation was held on December 22, 2022, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Shreveport, followed by a memorial service that afternoon. Though his life was cut short, Michael’s family and friends honor his memory by remembering the care he showed his loved ones and the quiet strength he shared with those around him. He will be remembered for his commitment to family, his work in the outdoor-advertising community, and the everyday ways he supported those he loved.
