Remembering Michael
A life held close in memory
Michael Dennis McNew, 64, is mourned by family and friends for the steady kindness and humor he brought to those around him. A graduate of South Hagerstown High School (class of 1970) and holder of a B.S. from West Virginia University, Michael built a career in pharmaceutical sales and was known professionally as a respected district manager. He lived in Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania, in a home overlooking the Delaware River, and he enjoyed motorcycling, jet skiing, and spending time with people he cared about.
Beloved by his children and grandchildren, Michael valued family gatherings and was remembered by those who knew him for his quick wit and the easy manner with which he welcomed others. Colleagues and neighbors recall a man who balanced hard work with a love of the outdoors and social time with friends.
A memorial service was held at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home in Hagerstown, Maryland on August 26, 2017. In lieu of flowers, the family invited donations to a foundation or organization of the donor’s choice.
Michael’s life is recalled with affection by those who knew him — a loyal father, a dedicated professional, and a companion to many whose presence made ordinary days better. His memory remains in the stories, laughter, and quiet moments he shared with family and friends.
