Michael Lewis

Michael K. Lewis, 61, of Conklin, New York, passed away on January 3, 2025. He is remembered first and foremost for the warmth he showed his family and friends, and for a quick wit that brightened gatherings. Michael treasured time with his daughters and grandson, and took special pleasure in being a grandfather.

Born to Dewey and Marian Lewis (predeceased), Michael was a longtime member of a large and close-knit family. He was predeceased by sisters Linda Lewis and Donna Potter, and brother Robert Lewis. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Debbi Malley-Lewis; his daughters Jessica Lewis and Denna Malley and grandson Lyeith Merwin; his brother James Lewis; sister Lisa Cicak; half brother David Belcher; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who considered him family.

An avid golfer and hunter, Michael loved friendly competition and the chance to spend time with loved ones outdoors. Friends often recall his sense of humor and generosity—qualities that made him the person people turned to in times of need. He also enjoyed poker, where his competitive spirit and storytelling made him a memorable presence at the table.

Family and community members will remember Michael for his kindness, his readiness to help others, and the laughter he brought to family gatherings. Visitation was held at Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home in Binghamton with a celebration of life following, where family and friends shared memories of a man who took joy in family, the outdoors, and the small moments that knit a life together.
