Michael Henritze Jr.

Michael “Mikey” Ray Henritze Jr., 35, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on January 7, 2025. Born April 29, 1989, in Roanoke, Mikey was a familiar face in his community who took genuine pride in his work running a lawn care business and in collecting items that reflected his wide interests.

Above all, Mikey was a family man. He cherished time with his three children — Braedyn Markus Ray Henritze, Raegan Nicole Henritze, and Asher Collins Henritze — and his love for them was central to who he was. He is survived by his mother, Michelle Henritze; his father, Michael Henritze Sr.; his brother, Tommy Henritze (Stephanie); his sister, Tess Henritze; and other close family including nephew Hunter Henritze and niece Serenity Henritze. Mikey’s circle also included his godfather Frankie Moore and longtime friends whose companionship meant a great deal to him.

Mikey had a warm, down-to-earth manner that friends and neighbors remembered: a hardworking small-business owner who took care in his craft, a collector who enjoyed the small pleasures of assembling things that mattered to him, and a son and sibling who remained loyal to his family. Those who knew him recall his sense of humor, his sense of responsibility, and the everyday ways he showed up for the people he loved.

Family will receive friends on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 5:00–7:00 p.m., and on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 10:00–11:00 a.m., with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Valley Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Roanoke (1609 Peters Creek Rd, Roanoke, VA). A repass for close family and friends will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to Shatterproof, a national nonprofit working to improve addiction treatment and support.

Mikey’s life touched many in his community. Friends and family remember him for his devotion to his children, his pride in his work, and the small, meaningful collections that reflected his personality. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by those who loved him.
