Remembering Mark
A life held close in memory
Mark Reid Tucker, 49, of Apex/Cary, North Carolina, devoted his life to public service and to his family. A respected investigator with the Wake County Sheriff's Office and a former United States Marshal for the Eastern District of North Carolina, Mark combined steady leadership with a quiet commitment to helping others. He served his community for decades, including a term as president of the Wake County Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #41.
Beloved by his wife, Patricia H. Tucker, and their sons Chad and Matthew, Mark was also a son, brother, and friend. He is remembered by his parents, Dallas and Virginia Tucker; his sister Robbie Angell; and his brothers Tom, Buddy, and Dan Tucker. Family, friends, and colleagues gathered to honor his life at services arranged by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home and Mid-Way Baptist Church, and many expressed their gratitude for his years of service and mentorship.
Mark’s career in law enforcement was marked by professionalism and steady dedication. Colleagues recall his calm presence and willingness to share experience and guidance with younger officers. Outside his work, he was part of a close family and community network that valued his warmth, humor, and sense of duty.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions to the Fraternal Order of Police. Those who knew Mark remember him not for how his life ended but for the steady service, leadership, and care he offered to his family and to the people of Wake County. He is mourned by many who benefited from his work and friendship, and his memory continues to be honored by family, friends, and fellow officers.
