Remembering Manuel
A life held close in memory
Manuel “Manny” Castro Jr., 61, of Tampa, passed away on July 29, 2017. A devoted father and a longtime State Farm agent, Manny was known to family and friends for his honesty, steady loyalty, and a kind heart that touched many lives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Castro Sr. and Pauline Longo Castro. Manny is survived by his daughter Meggie, his son Matthew, and numerous loving family members and friends who remember him for his generosity and sense of duty.
Those who knew Manny remember him as a dependable presence — both in his professional life helping clients through insurance matters and in his personal life as a steady, caring father. He took pride in his work and in the relationships he built over the years; colleagues and clients alike respected him for his integrity and straightforward manner.
Family gatherings and the quieter moments with loved ones were central to Manny’s life. His family has invited those who wish to honor his memory to a celebration of life held on August 17 in Ybor City. In keeping with the family’s wishes, donations in his memory were suggested to causes supporting mental-health advocacy and animal rescue.
Manny’s family and friends carry forward the memory of his generosity, his bravery of spirit, and the steady care he showed the people closest to him. Though his life was cut short, the bonds he formed and the kindness he offered endure in the memories of those who loved him.
