Remembering Lester
A life held close in memory
Lester Maurice “Bleek” Thompson (known to many as Lester Thompson) brought love and laughter to those closest to him. A proud father to Zaire and Jahsir Thompson and a cherished figure in the lives of Waajid Beckett and others, Lester was a source of care for his family. He was the beloved son of Melinda Thompson and a nephew, cousin, and friend to a close circle who remember him for the moments he shared with them.
Though his life was cut short on February 2, 2010, Lester’s role as a parent and loving family member endures in the memories of those who knew him. Friends recall his warmth in gatherings and the small, everyday ways he showed up for people he loved. Family-centered and connected to his community in Jersey City, Lester’s presence mattered to people who relied on his steadying influence and companionship.
In mourning his loss, family and friends celebrate Lester’s life by remembering his kindness, the quiet strength with which he cared for his children, and the ties that bound him to his mother and relatives. His children and surviving family carry forward the imprint of his life in their daily conversations, remembrances, and traditions.
Services and remembrances were arranged through The Family Funeral Home–Newark and notices were shared by local outlets and memorial pages. Those who wish to honor Lester’s memory are invited to keep his children and family in their thoughts and to remember the human warmth he offered to those around him.
