Korey Gilbert

Korey Duvon Gilbert brought energy and affection to every room he entered. Born July 26, 1994, in New Albany, Indiana, Korey was known for his devotion to family, his quick humor, and a spirited approach to life. He treasured time with his mother and siblings, delighted in being an uncle, and created playful family rituals—like the much-loved “Barrels”—that became a source of laughter and connection for those close to him.

A committed fitness enthusiast, Korey made exercise part of his daily routine and often held multiple gym memberships to support his goal of staying active. He loved sports and was a loyal supporter of the Louisville Cardinals, frequently wearing team apparel and making game days part of his life. He also enjoyed social outings with friends, including trips to the casino boat where he combined playful competition with camaraderie.

Korey is lovingly remembered by his wife, Melia Gilbert; his parents, Duvon Gilbert and Kelly Weathers; his sister, Lindsey Brown; and an extended family that includes step-siblings, grandparents, nieces, nephews, and many cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Ronald Weigleb and his great-grandmother Wilhelmina Gilbert.

Those who knew Korey recall a man who could be both sweet and mischievous—kind and caring, yet impulsively fun. He made time for the people he loved and carried a warmth that made ordinary moments memorable. Though his life was far too short, the traditions he began, the laughter he shared, and the steady devotion he showed his family remain lasting gifts to those who loved him.

A Celebration of Life took place on January 26, 2022, at Scott Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Korey’s family welcomes memories, condolences, and remembrances from friends who wish to honor his spirit.
