Kirsten Teaster

Kirsten Nichole Teaster of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, passed away on May 20, 2026, at the age of 27. Born on September 6, 1998 in Rutherford County, Kirsten was known to family and friends for her steady care and warm spirit.

A 2018 graduate of R-S Central High School, Kirsten spent several years as a certified nursing assistant, providing hands-on care for residents in local nursing homes. Her work reflected a patient, practical kindness that those close to her remember readily. Outside of work she loved animals and took particular pride in caring for her cow, Otis, a companion she enjoyed dearly.

Family was at the center of Kirsten’s life. She was a devoted mother to her children, Bayley and Bentlee, and treasured her role as a big sister and daughter. Kirsten maintained close ties to her parents, Angel Toney and Jon Teaster, siblings, grandparents, and extended family in the Rutherford County area. She was also a member of the Gilkey Church of God, where she shared in faith and community life.

Kirsten is remembered by those who knew her for practical affection, steady presence, and the small, everyday ways she looked after others. She loved animals, family gatherings, and the quiet routines of life in her community. Her kindness and commitment to caring for others left an impression on colleagues, neighbors, and loved ones alike.

A memorial service to celebrate Kirsten’s life was scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Gilkey Church of God, with visitation beginning one hour before the service. Those who loved her will carry forward memories of her gentle care and the ways she made everyday life better for the people and animals she tended.

Kirsten was preceded in death by several grandparents and relatives. She is survived by her mother, Angel Toney; her father, Jon Teaster; her children, Bayley and Bentlee Teaster; brothers and sisters; grandparents; and a circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who mourn her loss and celebrate her life.
