Keyshawn Vondale Allers

Keyshawn Vondale Allers, born May 31, 2001, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was a bright and active young man who treasured family, friends and the simple joys of everyday life. Known for his enthusiasm for football and the easy laughter he shared with those close to him, Keyshawn played for Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School before graduating from Jefferson High School in 2019. He enjoyed competing on the field, spending time with friends, and relaxing while playing Xbox.

Beloved by a large extended family, Keyshawn was the son of Tiona Allers and Emmett Vaughn and grew up surrounded by siblings and relatives who remember his energy and presence. He is survived by his parents, two brothers, seven sisters and many aunts, uncles and cousins who carry his memory with them.

Family and friends gathered for a public visitation on July 17, 2020, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel, with a private funeral and burial following. In keeping with the family’s wishes, memorials were directed to Keyshawn’s family.

Though taken far too soon on July 12, 2020, Keyshawn’s warmth, athletic spirit and the companionship he gave to others remain in the stories his family and friends share. He is remembered not for how he died but for the small, everyday moments that showed who he was: a son, a brother, a teammate and a friend whose presence mattered to those around him.
