Remembering Kendrick

A life held close in memory

Kendrick Lamar Young, 46, passed away on July 3, 2020. He was a devoted family member whose life was honored by relatives and friends at a graveside service held on July 11 at Harmon Cemetery in Talladega.

Kendrick is remembered in funeral notices as a son, nephew and brother within a wide circle of aunts, uncles and cousins who survived him. The published service notice lists family members who cared for him and who stood with his memory: his uncle Terence Harmon (Marshelia Harmon), aunts Lillie Chatman, Helen Millender, Emma Young, Marcella Kidd, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Kidd and Mickey Young, and by his sister, Tasha Young.

Family chose a simple graveside service to celebrate Kendrick’s life, giving relatives and close friends an opportunity to gather, share memories, and place him to rest at Harmon Cemetery. The funeral home coordinating arrangements was Anniston Funeral Services in Anniston, Alabama.

Kendrick’s life was honored quietly and closely by those who knew him. While public records note the day he died, the notices and service details emphasize family remembrance and the care of relatives who assembled to mark his passing. For those who wish to remember him, his graveside service and the names of family who survived him stand as the bearing threads of a life held in a community of kin.
