Jose Michael Fred Gurley, age 17, of Brockton, is remembered by family and friends for the warmth he brought to those around him. A son of Shelley Anne Gurley, Jose was part of a large, close-knit family and is survived by his brothers and sisters — Rodney, Shavon, Elijah, Tiara, Nykia, Sharon, and Donna Gurley — as well as grandparents Fred and Donna Gurley. He was also brother-in-law to Brandy Clinton and uncle to Lasadia Gurley.
Jose was known to family as someone whose presence mattered in everyday moments: a caring son, a devoted brother, and a young man with promise. Community accounts also remembered him for his athletic ability and for being a teammate and friend on the football field, where he helped make a meaningful contribution to his high-school program.
Family and friends gathered to honor Jose’s memory at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home in Brockton. A funeral service was held for loved ones to share memories and celebrate his life.
