Remembering Jordan

A life held close in memory

Jordan Rae‑Sean Phipps of Bloomfield, Connecticut, passed away unexpectedly on August 6, 2023, at the age of 24. Born in Hartford on September 30, 1998, Jordan was the beloved son of Joyce Lewis and Warren Phipps. He grew up in the area and attended Wesley Elementary School in Middletown, Carmen Arace Middle School, and Bloomfield High School.

Jordan’s family remembers him first and foremost for his fierce devotion to those he loved. He was a proud and loving father who cherished making memories with his child. He was close with his family, enjoyed large gatherings, and had a warm, generous spirit—always ready to give to others and to speak honestly and directly when it mattered. His kindness and willingness to help were part of how friends and family described him: someone who would offer what he had without hesitation.

A sports enthusiast, Jordan loved both football and basketball, whether playing with friends or watching a game. He enjoyed relaxed time with his circle, listening to music and watching television shows, and his easygoing presence made him a welcome companion at family events—often arriving last and diving into the celebration.

Jordan is remembered as a son, brother, uncle, and dear friend whose sense of compassion and straightforward nature left a mark on those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Arthur Lewis and Philbert Phipps. The bond he shared with his family and the joy he took in everyday moments remain his lasting legacy.

Though words cannot replace his presence, Jordan’s memory lives on in the stories, laughter, and love of those who knew him. He will be held in the hearts of his family and friends for years to come.
