Obituary

A formal remembrance

Jonathan J.W. “Jon” Floyd, 55, of Perry, Missouri, was a man who found joy in the simple, enduring rhythms of rural life. A lifelong outdoorsman, Jon treasured time spent hunting and fishing and passing those traditions to younger family members. He worked for many years as a farmer and more recently as a machine operator at Perry Machine and Die, where his steady work ethic and plainspoken kindness were known and appreciated by coworkers.

Jon’s warmth at home matched his quiet dedication to his work. He shared a close life with his wife, Candace (“Candy”), and he took great pride in his children and numerous grandchildren. Family gatherings, time on the land, and evenings sharing stories were the things that mattered most to him; those memories are now a lasting gift to those who loved him.

Friends remember Jon for his calm, practical nature, his love of the outdoors, and the small, dependable ways he showed care. Whether mentoring a younger hunter, repairing a tractor, or enjoying a day on the water, he approached life with humility and a generous heart.

A funeral service and burial were arranged by James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, Missouri, where friends and family were invited to celebrate Jon’s life. In place of flowers, the family asked that contributions be made to causes that support outdoor education and youth hunting programs — a reflection of Jon’s desire to share his love of the outdoors with future generations.

Jon’s life leaves a quiet but deep imprint: a partner, father, grandfather, friend, and neighbor who loved the land and the people closest to him. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his care for family, and the outdoor traditions he cherished.
