Johnathan Kellogg

Johnathan Gregory “John” Kellogg (1972–2019) was born in Anchorage on September 11, 1972. A proud graduate of Service High School, John pursued a lifelong interest in helping others and working with his hands. Over more than two decades he earned certifications as a first responder and as an automotive mechanic, combining practical skill with a readiness to assist those in need.

John was known to many for his steady presence in the community — whether offering help to a friend with a car, sharing a laugh at a local gathering, or quietly supporting those around him. Friends who remembered him after his passing described him as someone with an easy smile and a generous spirit, the sort of person others turned to in small emergencies and in ordinary moments alike.

Outside of his work, John enjoyed the simple pleasures of Alaskan life. Messages left in his memorial guestbook recall him catching fish on cabin trips and the warmth of his smile at shared meals. Those memories speak to a man who valued connection and who found joy in hands-on work and time spent with people he cared about.

John’s family and friends honored his life with a celebration that reflected the affection many felt for him: personal stories, quiet remembrances, and gratitude for the ways he touched their lives. While his passing on December 25, 2019, left a deep ache for those close to him, those who knew John continue to carry forward the kindness and practical help he offered so freely.

He is remembered with love by relatives, friends, and neighbors in Anchorage whose lives were brightened by his presence. May his memory be a comfort to all who knew him.
