Remembering John
A life held close in memory
John Blake Burgin Sr., 51, of Springville, Alabama, passed away on October 27, 2024. Born September 12, 1973, John was a devoted father and grandfather whose family was at the center of his life. He took pride in being a steady presence for his children and enjoyed the simple, daily acts of care that knit a family together.
John is remembered by his sons, John Blake Burgin Jr. and Jacob Daniel Burgin, and his daughter, Ariel Jones. He was cherished by his grandchildren Brody Burgin, Ayden Burgin, Taylynn Burgin, and Zaelyn Vaughn, who knew him affectionately as their grandfather. John is also survived by siblings Bradie Burgin and Cyndi Cornelius; his brother Robert Burgin (Liz); nieces Ashley Stephenson, Haley Gibson, and Lexie Dobson; and nephews Brian Cornelius and Ethan Taylor.
Those who gathered with the family in the days following his passing recall a man whose life was quietly rooted in central Alabama, surrounded by family and neighbors who mattered to him. A visitation was held at Lemley Funeral Home on November 3, 2024, followed by services in the chapel with burial at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Family and friends honored John’s memory with stories, prayer, and the comfort of community.
While words cannot fully capture the daily ways John showed love, his family’s presence and the grandchildren who carried his name forward are a living tribute to his care and devotion. Lemley Funeral Home served the family during arrangements and invited those who knew John to remember him with a planted memorial or moments of quiet reflection. John’s life was defined by the relationships he kept close — a father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose memory will remain with those who loved him.
