Remembering Jesus

A life held close in memory

Jesus Kudera Galvez (October 4, 1952 – April 30, 2017) was a gentle, hardworking presence in the Topeka community. Born in Inopacan, Leyte, Philippines, Jesus made a life of steady care and service. He worked as a maintenance man, offering practical skills and steady hands to help keep homes and community spaces functioning. Neighbors and colleagues came to know him as dependable, patient, and ready to lend a hand.

Jesus married Rizalina Dacera on September 18, 1975; their family was central to his life. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Rizalina, his daughters Gina (Jonathan) Allen, Girly Galvez, and Geraldine Galvez, and by his relatives who survive him. Family meant everything to Jesus, and his commitment to them was evident in both small daily acts and the quieter ways he supported those close to him.

Beyond his work, Jesus was part of the local community that cared for adults with developmental disabilities; his willingness to help and his steady presence left an impression on those who received his kindness. Friends and family recall his practicality, his steady work ethic, and the calm way he faced life’s demands. Those who knew him remember a man who found meaning in providing for and supporting his loved ones.

Services were arranged in Topeka in early May 2017, where family and friends gathered to honor his life. Though his passing brought sorrow, the memories of his quiet devotion and the everyday care he offered remain. Jesus’s life is celebrated by those who loved him, and his legacy endures in the family ties and community acts he nurtured.
