Remembering Jason

A life held close in memory

Jason Cole Allred, born August 22, 1998, in Hobbs, New Mexico, was a young man marked by quiet determination, a quick wit, and a generous heart. Raised in Artesia, Jason attended local schools and later pursued further studies at the University of New Mexico. He answered a call to serve and spent five years in the U.S. Navy as an information-technology technician, where his aptitude for technology and steady work ethic were clear to those who served with him.

A person of faith, Jason participated in his community at Faith Baptist in Artesia. He loved being active — from football in his earlier years to regular workouts, runs, and weekend bowling nights — and he found pleasure in quieter pursuits as well: movies, gaming, chess and reading. Those who knew him remember a young man who often put others first, whose kindness and sense of humor made room for laughter even in ordinary moments. He had plans to continue his technology career in a remote role that would give him the freedom to live in the mountains and follow his interests.

Jason is survived by his parents, Nathan and Kelby Allred; his siblings Dusty Allred, Casey Allred, and Katlynn Rogers; grandparents JC and Betty Allred, and Kerry and Kathy Shahan; and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who treasured his presence. Family members recall his resilience, his willingness to help, and the warmth he brought to family gatherings.

Jason passed from this life on June 24, 2024. In memory of his love for animals, the family requested contributions to the Humane Society of Artesia. Friends and relatives gathered to celebrate his life at services held in July 2024. Jason’s steady kindness, bright smile, and the small everyday ways he uplifted others remain the clearest measures of a life too short but well lived.
