Jamir Johnson

Jamir Milan Johnson was born April 24, 1992, in Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up surrounded by family who loved him. Warm and generous by nature, Jamir had a way of lighting up a room with his smile and was known for being ready to help friends and relatives in need.

Jamir’s greatest joy was his son, Xavior, whom he adored. He loved sports—both watching and taking part—and had a special fondness for children and dogs. Those who knew him remember his laughter, his loyalty to friends, and the steady presence he offered to family members during both celebrations and hard times.

He is survived by his parents, Genine and Jamir (Melissa), his son Xavior, sisters Jada and Ariane, and brother Jayden. He was a cherished grandson to Sharon and Ruby and a beloved member of an extended family that included grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many cousins. Jamir counted among his closest friends a lifelong companion, Myles, and maintained close bonds with those who shared his everyday life.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Gaines Funeral Home in Maple Heights/Cleveland, where family and friends gathered to honor his memory and the love he shared. Jamir’s family remembers him for the small, meaningful ways he showed care—a timely call, a ready laugh, and the pride he carried for his son. Though his life was shortened unexpectedly on December 22, 2023, the kindness he offered and the relationships he nurtured leave a lasting imprint on those who loved him.
